Where it came from

Mert's idea, Zcash's tech, Solana's speed

In 2020, ZEC could be minted as an ERC-20 on Ethereum as renZEC, built by Ren protocol and backed 1:1 by native ZEC. Zcash founder Zooko followed it closely and shared it with the community. It showed that Zcash's coin could live on another chain.

The idea for a private-by-default Solana token came from Mert. By forking Zcash's shielded tech, we turned that idea into a reality: $YCASH.
